What makes a good e-bike brand: Things you’d be looking for

Every discussion about electric bikes ends up with a brand being top-notch. Whether you need the best budget electric bike, or a premium one, the ebike company is the one to go for first. The things that make a good e-bike brand is its build quality, design, support, availability of spare parts, and so on.

Here are a few things to consider in an ebike before getting a model you like:

Environment/Terrain selection

Not all e-bikes perform equally in every terrain type. Some are more equipped for mountains, while others can’t leave the paved roads. You need to pick a brand that performs the best according to your needs.

If you like to travel uphills or off-roading, chances are you need an e-bike with a heck lot of power. Don’t expect a regular city commuting ebike brand to take you way up the meadow.

Performance

When it comes to the performance, not all e-bikes grasp the same output. Some may outperform others due to manufacturing defects, or simply because you got the wrong e-bike. This is why you need to go on a test drive or look for online reviews first.

Design

E-bike designs change every time, depending on the model and purpose. For example, city bikes have a slimmer frame design and tires. Mountain bikes on the other hand have fat tires and extra shock absorbing ability, making it look more rugged.

There are other designs like, Cruisers, Miniature, Off-roads, City , Hybrid, Commuting, and so on. All the designs have their pros and cons. However, it’s up to you to choose a specialty bike design that suits you the best.

Durability (Longevity)

The durability of e-bikes depends solely on the quality of the raw material. In the e-bike industry, some manufacturers may try to cut costs by offering lower quality products. Rule of the thumb, go for e-bike brands that have the most reviews and ratings.

A new or low quality brand may try buying customer reviews. However, on a larger scale, this strategy won’t work.

Customer support

There is nothing more painful than the customer service not picking up the phone in time. Turns out, you need 24/7 customer service just as much as you need quality e-bikes. Go for an e-bike brand that will always pick up the phone no matter what.

Availability of spare parts

Suppose you bought the fanciest e-bike with a huge price tag. After road riding for a few months the mid-drive motor broke. If you can’t find a replacement pronto, the bike is sitting ducks. A good e-bike brand needs to have both online and offline availability of spare parts.

Price range

For most of us, a premium price tag will just break the bank. This is why an e-bike with an affordable price is the way to go for most of us. However, the price of an e-bike depends on the selection of bikes, motor power, and manufacturer.

Some e-bikes may cost more but provide less features. Try avoiding them, until you find a reason like durability, and longevity to buy them.

Level of assembly

Who would want to set up every minor portion of the e-bike, right? Luckily, most of them come anywhere from 80%-90% assembled out-of-the-box. Premium brands will have the most parts assembled, whereas, you need to fix a few screws here for a mid-budget e-bike.

End Note

Found your best electric bike manufacturer yet? Well, a good one depends solely on what value for money it gives and the road condition you regularly ride on.

You can’t just buy a 250-Watt or 350-Watt ebike and expect it to ride steep hills, right? For it you will need at least a 500-Watt motor.

However, some e-bike manufacturers may outperform others, due to better raw materials, added accessories, and so on.

So, choose your e-bike manufacturer wisely. This is all for today. Bye-Bye.
